Rosie has a show on Oprah Winfrey’s new network OWN now, and I must say, I am not impressed at all. Many moons ago, I found her humor irreverent and funny. She used to be witty, and would actually talk about things other than being gay. As I watched her on “The Rosie Show” today, I realized, Rosie O’Donnell just isn’t funny anymore. She seems, not funny, but downright bitter. I cringed as she displayed a clip of Letterman’s joking comments about her recently announced engagement to her new woman, and her retort was just, well, angry. Not funny, ping-ponging of wit, but a flat-out announcement that Letterman is anti-gay. It’s definitely no comparison to the banter between Stewart and O’Reilly this past week, which has been hilarious, and good-natured.

So, I guess if a joke is made about Rosie, one must be prepared to be called anti-gay? But Rosie, maybe you just aren’t funny anymore. Maybe when you make public announcements about your engagement, hand a little girl a “GAY DAR GUN” on your show, and make everything about your sexuality, instead of being gay, you just seem to be in the business of exploitation of the gay community. I don’t know, but that just seems like the case from my perspective. I actually felt awkward watching the show, listening to the latent and forced chuckles of an obviously uncomfortable audience during the pregnant pauses after your punch lines. Maybe Rosie needs new writers. Less angry, more light-hearted writers that are actually funny, like……ELLEN. Just saying.
